Reno's Tiny Ten offers a modern lifestyle of tiny living | Tiny Towns
Tiny living doesn't have to mean giving up the comforts of full-sized houses.Posted by Curbed on Tuesday, February 20, 2018
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius - and a lot of courage - to move in the opposite direction."
~ E.F. Schumacker
"May your home always be too small to hold all your friends."
~ Irish wedding toast
Tiny home living is nothing new. Shoot, even Abraham Lincoln lived in a one room cabin. What is noteworthy today is the groundswell of small living advocacy. People everywhere, and in every demographic, are exploring the possibility of discarding the excess in their lives in order to achieve simplicity.
HabeRae has its roots in small space living; first with our 11 on Fourth project (now Urban Roots Farm) and again with the SoDo4 project (4 tiny, multiple award winning homes on Center St. in 2007), 2 on Watt, 2 More on Watt, 2 on First. Our latest project will take the tiny home movement to the next level in Reno.
Ten homes with two different models, the "Urban Pioneer" and the "City Trailblazer" will feature 2 bedrooms and 1 bath ranging from 650 square feet to 684 square feet. Built by award winners GuiDenby, the homes will encircle a community space with water features and edible gardens. Outfitted with every possible amenity, including washer dryers, air conditioning, fully-equipped kitchens and private back yards, these won't be your typical tiny homes requiring you to show up with nothing but the clothes on your back. The Tiny Ten are what we call "glove houses." Not too small, not too big, but fitting like a glove. Built to the latest energy codes, your Tiny Ten home will keep you toasty in winter, cool in summer with utility bills that will make you smile. And what other tiny homes leave out, ours will include: a tiny garage!
Priced in the low $200's, the Tiny Ten won't break the bank. Imagine owning a brand new, energy efficient home for less than it costs to rent.
Slated for occupancy in Spring of 2017. Interest list forming now.
